From Greensboro and points West

  • Via I-85 North:  Exit onto N.C. 147 - Durham Freeway (#172).
  • Continue on Durham Freeway to Swift Avenue exit (#14).
  • Turn left onto Swift Avenue to W. Main Street.
  • Turn right on West Main Street and go to Campus Drive, which is the main entrance to East Campus.
  • Turn left into campus.
  • The West Duke Building is the first building on the left when you are facing the statue of Washington Duke.

From Richmond and points North

  • Via I-85 South:  In Durham, take the right-lane exit (#174A) - U.S. 15-501 S.
  • Right exit on 108B – N.C. 147 (Durham Freeway).
  • Take Durham Freeway S. to Swift Avenue exit (#14). Turn left onto Swift Avenue to W. Main Street.
  • Turn right onto right on W. Main Street and go to Campus Drive, which is the main entrance to East Campus.
  • Turn left into campus.
  • The West Duke Building is the first building on the left when you are facing the statue of Washington Duke.

From Raleigh and points East

  • Via I-40 West:  Exit onto the Durham Freeway (N.C. 147) 279B.
  • Take Durham Freeway to Swift Avenue exit (#14).  Turn right onto Swift Avenue to W. Main Street.
  • Turn right on West Main Street and go to Campus Drive, which is the main entrance to East Campus.
  • Turn left into campus.
  • The West Duke Building is the first building on the left when you are facing the statue of Washington Duke.

From Chapel Hill

  • Via U.S. 15-501 North, take 15-501 N, marked to Duke University/Med Center. Do not take 15-501 Business.
  • Continue on U.S. 15-501 to N.C. 147 (Durham Freeway) exit (#108B).
  • Take Durham Freeway S. to Swift Avenue exit (#14), marked East Campus.
  • Take exit and turn left onto Swift Avenue to W. Main Street.
  • Turn right onto right on W. Main Street and go to Campus Drive, which is the main entrance to East Campus.
  • Turn left into campus.
  • The West Duke Building is the first building on the left when you are facing the statue of Washington Duke.
