- Once I mail the application for a Scholar Weekend, how soon will I know if my student is accepted?
-
We process applications for all Scholar Weekends as they are received. If your student is accepted to a weekend, you will receive an acceptance packet in the mail. Applicants unable to be placed in any course choices will be placed on a waiting list. If this happens, you will be notified and then contacted if space becomes available in a class listed on the application.
- What do I do once I receive acceptance materials?
-
Complete the following forms and return them to Duke TIP Admissions, along with a check for the tuition ($450 for overnight students; $400 for day students). Please make sure that all forms are signed by both the student and parent/guardian.

- If my student has been accepted to a Scholar Weekend but now has a conflict, what should I do?
-
Please contact Duke TIP Admissions (919-668-9100) immediately. It is very important to notify Admissions that your student will be unable to attend the program as soon as you learn of the conflict. This will allow a student on the wait list to be placed in the class.
Please note that cancellations must be made at least 10 business days in advance of the beginning of the weekend in order to ensure a full refund. After that time, cancellations will result in forfeiture of payment except in the case of illness (with doctor's note on letterhead); death of immediate family member; or inclement weather.

- Where do I park when I drop my student off and pick him/her up?
-
Parking at Duke University can be a challenge at times, since there are often other events happening on campus during the weekend. On the weekends, you may park in any undesignated parking space (not marked for specific staff members, emergency vehicles, or otherwise restricted).

The Parent Meeting begins at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday and is usually held in the same building as registration and classes. Each Instructor will give a brief presentation about the class, what was covered during the weekend, and highlights from activities or projects. The Instructors will also be available to speak with parents individually after the meeting, and a member of the Duke TIP main office staff will also be present to discuss other questions.
The Parent Meeting will end around 4:30 p.m., in time for you to pick up your student from class.
