About the Course: This course is designed to provide an introduction to a wide variety of psychological disorders and related theoretical concepts. We will review diagnostic criteria, possible causes of disorders, the variety of treatments available for classes of disorders, and current controversies associated with particular disorders and with the field in general. The course gives students the opportunity to learn diagnostic criteria, apply them critically, evaluate cases from a number of different perspectives, and conceptualize basic treatment options.

About the Instructors: David and Lindy Norman both hold undergraduate and M.A.T. degrees from Duke University. A long-time social studies teacher, David is an adjunct history professor with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in US History and he teaches AP Psychology. Lindy has taught 8 years in the social studies from 6th grade–12th grade. She also taught AP Psychology before moving to a position as mentor for beginning teachers.
