Affine Ciphers and Modular Inverses
Introduction
Agent Smith, in this lesson you will see a stronger connection between math and codes. You will learn a more secure type of cipher. However, with increased security comes the
need for skill in using it and a deeper understanding of arithmetic in this new modular system. These affine ciphers are much harder to crack without a knowledge of multiplication and its inverses in mod 26.
But alas, agents are human, and they can make errors that render
a cipher useless. We'll tell you about one of those mistakes in this lesson and try to prepare you so that you don't make one like it.
