Examine international efforts to bring war criminals to justice by studying and/or visiting the international war crimes tribunals of Nuremburg, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and the former Yugoslavia.
Study at Duke University for one week to develop a foundation in international law and then become fully immersed in the Netherlands by visiting such places as the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House.

Study the biology of dolphins, manatees, sharks, sea turtles, and tropical marine life.
Discover the distinct oceanographic systems of the Gulf of Mexico and conduct field research in those ecosystems.
Learn about the unusual and sometimes bizarre adaptations and behaviors that marine animals use for survival.
Explore mangrove forests, sea grass beds, barrier islands, and intertidal ecosystems and collect organisms for observation in the lab.
Students will be transported by Duke TIP staff members in a rental vehicle.
Field trips may include a boat tour through various Florida ecosystems, beach picnics, an overnight visit to The Florida Aquarium, and Disney's Epcot Center.
Duke TIP reserves the right to make alterations to the field trips schedule and activities.

In addition to studying college-level material in one of the courses below, you'll spend time attending workshops focused on the college admissions process, living in residence halls, and touring the beautiful campus of Duke University in North Carolina or New College in Florida.

Develop a creative writing style, learn professional writing techniques, participate in supportive critique workshops, and experience the process of writing.
Visit with local artists and writers, explore Taos Pueblo, hike through areas such as Chimney Rock and Box Canyon, and experience the local history and culture of New Mexico.
Immerse yourself in the creative process and enjoy the natural landscape.
Develop strategies for creating characters, setting, and plot; hone descriptive techniques; and learn to read with a writer's eye.
Students may have the opportunity to take academic field trips or engage in residential activities that take place on and off the Ghost Ranch property.
Students will be transported by Duke TIP staff members in a rental vehicle.
Students will be hiking through the New Mexico desert and taking field trips to various locations.
With parental permission, students may be permitted to participate in a low ropes course.

Investigate international viewpoints on high-performance design and research important green building projects worldwide.
Experience 21st century architecture at Duke University's "Smart House," where technology and contemporary design combine to create a living laboratory in which residents test the limits of green building systems.
Study the relationship of the natural environment to the rapidly evolving fields of energy conservation, alternative power generation, biomimicry, and material science and use your imagination to design a sustainable building of your own creation.
Explore innovation through hand drawing, three-dimensional computer modeling, interactive workshops, and peer-to-peer discussions.
Students may have the opportunity to take academic field trips or engage in residential activities that take place off campus.
Students will be transported by Duke TIP staff members in a rental vehicle.
Students will visit select locations on and off of the Duke University campus in groups of two or more without adult supervision, but will not be permitted off campus without adult supervision after dark (9 PM at the latest) throughout the duration of the program.
