Scholarships for College
Many state associations for the gifted and other organizations attuned to the needs of gifted students offer scholarship money for college. Several such scholarships are listed below by state. Families are encouraged to check with their state department of education, area educational organizations, and any other clubs and organizations with which family members are affiliated for additional opportunities.
National
The Davidson Institute For Talent Development
The Davidson Institute for Talent Development offers high achieving young people across the country the opportunity to be named a Davidson Fellows. Individuals named as Davidson Fellows receive a $50,000, $25,000 or $10,000 scholarship in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the areas of science, technology, mathematics, music, literature and/or philosophy. Each submission must be an original piece of work recognized by experts in the field as "significant" and it must have the potential to make a positive contribution to society. To be eligible, applicants must be under the age of 18, and a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident. The scholarship must be used at an accredited institute of learning. National Merit Scholarship Program
An academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and by meeting published program entry/participation requirements. Every Finalist competes for a $2,500 scholarship, which are awarded on a state representational basis. National Achievement Scholarship Program
An academic competition established to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students. Black students may enter both the National Achievement Program and the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and meeting other published requirements for participation. The Jackie Robinson Foundation
The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides 4-year college scholarships of up to $7,200 annually to minority high school students to attend the college of their choice. For information visit www.jackierobinson.org.
The Stanley E. Jackson Scholarship and the Sara Conlon Memorial Scholarship Awards
These scholarships are to be applied toward full-time, post-secondary education or training. Post-secondary education or training includes two and four year undergraduate college programs or vocational, technical or fine arts training programs. Five awards are given based on the following criteria

Award #1 Applicant must have a disability.

Award #2 Applicant must have a disability and also be a member of an ethnic minority group, such as African-American, Hispanic, Native American or Asian.

Award #3 Applicant must have a disability and also demonstrate gifted and/or talented abilities in any one or more of the following categories general intellectual ability, specific academic aptitude, creativity, leadership,
visual or performing arts. -
Award #4 Same as Award #3 and applicant must also be a member of an ethnic minority group, such as African-American, Hispanic, Native American or Asian. (Application must include statement from gifted/talented service provider).

California
California Association for the Gifted (CAG) Intellectual and Artistic Passion $1000 College Scholarship
CAG provides a scholarship award of $1000 to be given to a gifted high school student enrolling in an institution of higher learning during the next school year. This scholarship has a different emphasis than most; instead of stressing grade point averages, need, or community service, the intent is to support an individual passion for learning or creating. Students must currently be in grade 11 or 12, and attending classes in an accredited California educational system. (Juniors expecting to participate in an early entrance program at a participating college or university are eligible). Students must be planning to enter a recognized school of advanced education during the next school year, and must demonstrate outstanding achievement in a chosen area of talent or giftedness. Florida
Scobee Scholarships for Gifted Students
The Scobee Scholarship was created in honor of Dick Scobee, the commander of the Challenger space shuttle, and is awarded annually by the Florida Association for the Gifted. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding gifted students who intend to pursue college studies in math, science or technology. Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to one eligible gifted male and female student. For information visit www.flagifted.org.
Nebraska
The Nebraska Association for the Gifted Graduating Seniors Scholarships
The Nebraska Association For The Gifted will be awarding scholarship(s) of up to $500 for graduating seniors planning to attend Nebraska public and private colleges or universities. Applicants should complete this form as thoroughly and accurately as possible. Criteria for selection will be based on the timeliness in following deadlines, elaboration of application questions, and recommendations. Ohio
Ohio Association for Gifted Children (OAGC) College Scholarship Award
For any student who is about to enroll in his/her first year of college and/or a student currently enrolled full time in an undergraduate program of an Ohio college. Students must be full time, undergraduate students currently living in Ohio and identified as a gifted or talented student according to OAC 3301-51-15 and who have received an ACT composite score of 27 or students who have received a score on a SAT composite score of 1200 or higher.
