The Academy for Summer Studies is held on four different campuses:
Texas A&M University
Cost: $3,200
The state’s first public institution of higher education, Texas A&M was founded in 1876. The campus has a rich history of student-led traditions as well as a reputation for modern technology and research. It is also home to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and School of Public Service. Please visit the Texas A&M University Web site for more information.
The courses held at this site cover a broad spectrum of topics developed specifically to utilize special facilities and expertise at Texas A&M, from mathematics, science and technology to philosophy, politics, and interdisciplinary literature.
Approximately 160 students attend each term. This program is open to students in grades 7-10. All residence halls and classrooms at Texas A&M are air-conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Easterwood Airport (CLL) in College Station only.

University of Kansas
Cost: $3,100
Founded in 1864, the main campus of the University of Kansas (KU) sits atop Mount Oread in the hills of northeastern Kansas overlooking the city of Lawrence. The campus has been rated one of the most attractive in the nation. Home to 29,000 students, KU is among a select group of universities recognized for excellence in undergraduate, graduate, and professional education and the highest achievements in research. The Duke TIP at Kansas program offers a diverse curriculum of humanities, mathematics, and science courses, as well as several one-of-a-kind courses developed with KU’s strongest academic departments.
Approximately 145 students attend each term. This program is open to students in grades 7-10. All residence halls and classrooms at KU are air-conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) only.

Appalachian State University
Cost: $3,200Appalachian State University (ASU) is the sixth-largest university in the University of North Carolina system. Home to more than 14,000 students, ASU ranked 5th among public universities in the South in 2007, and has consistently ranked among the top 15 comprehensive regional universities in U.S.News and World Report’s college rankings. ASU is located in Boone, N.C., in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a beautiful setting for summer studies and outdoor pursuits. The Duke TIP at Appalachian program offers courses in mathematics and the humanities; in addition, science courses are built around the distinctive features of the Appalachian region.
Approximately 160 students attend each term. The program is open to students in grades 7-10. Most classrooms at ASU are air-conditioned; residence hall rooms are not air conditioned, but summer mountain temperatures are generally comfortable. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) only.

Duke University Marine Lab
Cost: $3,300
The Duke University Marine Lab offers modern research facilities and vessels, weathered rustic charm, and captivating views of the surrounding channels, sandbars, and islands. The Marine Lab has a traditional "camp" atmosphere, and participants live in small bunkhouses or modular housing with multiple bunks per room. Located on Pivers Island within the North Carolina Outer Banks, the Marine Lab is easily accessible from Morehead City via U.S. Highway 70. The Marine Lab program specializes in hands-on marine studies with extensive lab time and substantial fieldwork in surrounding marshes and on research vessels. In addition, humanities students can enjoy learning about maritime literature in an area that was once a haven for Blackbeard and other pirates. This is a single-term, 70-student program open to students in grades 8–10.
The residential rooms, labs, and classrooms at the Duke University Marine Lab are air conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) only.
