Wake Forest University

Cost: $3,200

Group at WakeWake Forest University is a selective, private university that is dedicated to providing a liberal arts education in an intimate setting. Since 1986, Wake Forest has produced 11 Rhodes Scholars, and is consistently ranked among the nation's top universities. The beautiful red-brick campus of Wake Forest University can be found just a few miles from downtown Winston-Salem,which is located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. The Duke TIP at Wake Forest University program is a brand-new program designed for seventh and eighth grade students only. The course offerings are selected from Duke TIP's most popular and challenging classes, while the small size of this program offers more personal attention for younger students. Approximately 90 students are expected to attend this one-term only program. This program is open to seventh and eighth graders only.

All residence halls and classrooms at Wake Forest University are air-conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) only.

Program Dates: June 15–July 5 (one term only)

Davidson College

Davidson College is a nationally recognized, highly selective independent liberal arts college located just outside Charlotte, North Carolina, in the town of Davidson. The College enrolls 1700 students and to date, Davidson students have garnered 23 Rhodes Scholarships. The intimate, picturesque 450-acre campus in a small town setting provides a nurturing and supportive environment for talented young Duke TIP participants. The Duke TIP at Davidson program offers a broad curriculum including algebra, geometry, natural and physical sciences, introductory psychology and philosophy courses, and a variety of humanities classes. Approximately 250 students attend each term. The program is open to students in grades 7 and 8.

All residence halls and classrooms at Davidson College are air-conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) only.

Duke University East Campus

Cost: 3,350

East Campus, initially developed in 1892 as Trinity College, was rebuilt in stately Georgian architectural style in the 1920s. The Duke TIP at East Campus program offers a diverse curriculum of literature, philosophy, computer science, political science, and economics courses. Approximately 250 students attend each term. This program is open to students in grades 8-10. All classrooms on East Campus are air-conditioned; residence hall rooms are not air-conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) only.

Duke University West Campus

Cost: $3,500

The West Campus of Duke University was built in the 1920s with funds donated by James B. Duke, and the university has since developed into a premier center of learning, medicine, and research. The Duke TIP at West Campus program emphasizes a curriculum of mathematics and the natural and social sciences and benefits from the use of Duke University science laboratories and equipment. The West Campus program serves approximately 190 students each term. This program is open to students in grades 8-10. All residence halls and classrooms on West Campus are air-conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) only.

Duke University Marine Lab

Cost: $3,300

Group at Duke Marine Lab The Duke University Marine Lab offers modern research facilities and vessels, weathered rustic charm, and captivating views of the surrounding channels, sandbars, and islands. The Marine Lab has a traditional "camp" atmosphere, and participants live in small bunkhouses or modular housing with multiple bunks per room. Located on Pivers Island within the North Carolina Outer Banks, the Marine Lab is easily accessible from Morehead City via U.S. Highway 70. The Marine Lab program specializes in hands-on marine studies with extensive lab time and substantial field work in surrounding marshes and on research vessels. In addition, humanities students can enjoy learning about maritime literature in an area that was once a haven for Blackbeard and other pirates. This is a single-term, 70-student program open to students in grades 8-10.

The residential rooms, labs, and classrooms at the Duke University Marine Lab are air-conditioned. Duke TIP will arrange participant transportation to campus from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) only.
