Enrollment Criteria
Registration has now ended for the 2007-2008 7th Grade Talent Search. To become a part of the TIP program, please see the TIP Option: Independent Registration page.
Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search eligibility is based on location, year in school, and past performance on standardized testing. Students meeting the following three eligibility criteria may apply in September of their seventh grade year:
- Attend
school, public, private or home school, within Duke TIP's 16-state
region:
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South
Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas;

- Be in the 7th grade (or have skipped the 7th grade during the current school year); and
- Score in the 95th% on the national norms of a standardized achievement, aptitude or mental ability test in an approved subtest category. Some states have criterion-referenced tests approved for Talent Search qualification purposes. Either of the two most recent testings may be used.
