At Duke TIP, we understand the vital role of teachers and counselors as you provide information about education to students and their families. We appreciate your dedication in helping meet the unique academic and social-emotional needs of gifted children and adolescents. Duke TIP is committed to developing ways to help you identify and appropriately challenge the academically gifted students you work with.
We want to be a resource for you in addressing the educational needs of the students you serve. Duke TIP's 7th Grade Talent Search serves nearly 80,000 students each year—providing assessment and resources for advanced students.
Duke TIP's Continuum of Services
Duke TIP provides academically talented students the opportunity to gain additional assessment of their abilities through taking the EXPLORE and ACT or SAT exams as above-level tests; summer, weekend, independent learning, and e-Studies programs to challenge them outside the classroom; and resources to keep them motivated and inform them and their families about their talent.

Coordinator's Guide and Materials
Schools in the Duke TIP database will automatically receive a copy of the 7th Grade Talent Search Coordinator's Guide (pdf) along with Student Guide brochures and paper applications in August.
To register your school or request more brochures for either talent search fill out the online school request form.
Eligibility and Identification
School districts compile and maintain records of student test scores. Check with your district office to see if you can obtain a list of students in your school who qualify for the talent search through their test scores.
On-line Registration
Perhaps the easiest and most efficient way to have students register is through Duke TIP on-line registration. Each year an increasing number of participants register via the Internet. The on-line registration option on the Duke TIP Web site will navigate students, parents, and families through the process.
Qualifying Tests and Acceptable Subtests
Duke TIP accepts a broad range of tests to maximize identification of qualified students. Please click to review the 7th Grade Talent Search Qualifying Tests and Acceptable Subtests and list of Supplemental Tests and Subtests for 2007-2008.
