4th/5th Grade Talent Search Enrollment Process & Fees
Refunds
Once you register, the registration fee is nonrefundable. The fee is expended in application processing and publication costs.
How To Enroll
Qualified students can enroll using ONE of these two methods:
Online Web registration OR Paper application. Applicants should submit EITHER an online application OR a paper application—NOT BOTH!
Online Web Registration
- Web registration requires a MasterCard or Visa credit card. Debit cards are not accepted.
- Web registration is not an option for students requesting fee waivers.
Paper Application
Students must:
- Complete an original Duke TIP 4th/5th Grade Talent Search application (available at your school or by contacting our office at 919-668-9136).
- Enclose a check or money order for $30 payable to Duke University or submit an authorized fee grant letter (see information regarding financial assistance below). The student’s name should be written on the check or money order.
- Mail application to: 2009 4th/5th GTS

Financial Assistance
Duke TIP offers fee waivers for the 4th/5th Grade Talent Search to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch programs. Fee waivers can only be processed with paper applications, and a fee waiver letter on official school letterhead or a copy of the free or reduced lunch advisement letter must accompany the application. Online registration is not available to students requesting a fee waiver.
EXPLORE Test Registration
EXPLORE testing is an optional benefit of participation in the 4th/5th Grade Talent Search. You must be currently enrolled in the Duke Tip 4th/5th Grade Talent Search in order to register for EXPLORE testing. 2009 EXPLORE test dates are January 24, 2009 and February 21, 2009. Non-Saturday testing is available for students whose religious beliefs prohibit them from testing on Saturday. More EXPLORE test information.
